Australia and New Zealand

The good thing about these countries is people speak English and understand what gluten and dairy intolerances are! Joy! I have found them both to be more sensitive to intolerances than North America, with many restaurants marking gluten and dairy free menu items, as well as many including gluten free options for dishes or carrying gluten free bread or buns.

Cafe's are a pretty good bet on finding something gluten free, and there is always sushi and other cheap Asian food to keep you occupied. Most restaurants will have at least one gluten free item on the menu. The thing you might miss out most on is fish and chips, but even a few chippy's carry gluten free batter! Some fast food chains, like burger fuel(new Zealand) and Jus burgers (Australia), carry gluten free buns for their burgers. It's amazing how exciting it can be to eat a burger with a real bun.

Eating out in both of these countries is fairly expensive so buying your own groceries and cooking if you have access to a kitchen is another great option. If you are from North America or the UK the food will be what you are used to, so it usually doesn't feel like a great sacrifice to cook your own food, or miss out on a menu item.
